News from Akhet
This past year has seen termendous growth and change here at Akhet Hwt-Hrw. As an initiatory esoteric order and temple dedicated to the reconstruction and practice of the Ancient Egyptian spiritual tradition we have been involved in the research and publication of several new projects. Earlier this year we saw the release of "Pillar of Ra: Ancient Egyptian Festivals for Today." This is a compilation of festival rituals drawn from Ancient Egyptian texts, and presented in a form that is understandable for today's ritualist. Contained in this book are the actual seasonal ceremonies used by members of the temple of Akhet Hwt-Hrw. For the first time we have compiled these rites into one volume. Information on this may be found at Pillar of Ra: Ancient Egyptian Festivals for Today.
With the Ancient Egyptian New Year in August we published the third book in the series "A Book of the Emanations of Ra." This volume, "Two Transfiguration Liturgies for the Radiant Spirits of the Blessed Dead" presents for contemporary Kemetic pagans two rituals based on authentic texts for assisting our own beloved dead in their transformation into akhu, that is, 'transfigured and radiant spirits of light.' The two rituals presented here include one for the great annual celebration known as the Beautiful Feast of the Western Valley, and the other a sakhu ('transfiguration') recitation ritual intended for private use various times each month. For more information see Two Transfiguration Liturgies for the Radiant Spirits of the Blessed Dead".
Contemporary western astrology has been steadily evolving from an art that was first developed in ancient Mesopotamia to a sophisticated tool that is best used to counsel and guide people as they move through the cycles of life. Thousands of years of continuous use and careful observation by generations of astrologers has resulted in a vibrant, unique system for understanding our place in the universe. For the first time, Akhet Hwt-Hrw's co-founder, Kerry Wisner, is now offering his services as an Astrologer through the internet. Kerry Wisner has been actively involved in the study and practice of astrology as a counseling tool for more than thirty years. He has studied under such well-known and respected astrologers as Sybil Leek, Susan Sherlock, Helen Whitehead, Jan Brink Ph.D. and a number of other prominent astrologers and organizations both on the east and west coasts of the United States. To learn more about this new service please see Akhet Astrological Counseling Services.
We are also proud to announce that Akhet Hwt-Hrw is in the process of rewritting all of our correspondence courses! With this we are adding new material, including rituals, exercises, and analytical research into the spiritual components of the Ancient Egyptian Esoteric system. All of the lessons are being expanded. Further this material will only be available to students of Akhet Hwt-Hrw. We will not be publishing this material in books or through other media for the general public. To learn more please go to our home webpage www.Hwt-Hrw.com.
The next issue of Cup of Wonder will feature several articles from members of Akhet Hwt-Hrw. Kerry Wisner presents an in-depth look at what is known of Astrology in Ancient Egypt. In addition Mr. Wisner offers an article on the spiritual meaning of Time as it relates to Egyptian religion. In this issue also Mr. Richard Reidy presents an overview of the "Two Transfiguration Liturgies for the Radiant Spirits of the Blessed Dead". For details please visit Cup of Wonder's website.
