Sacred Philosophy and the Ancient Egyptian Tradition
Over the past several years Akhet Hwt-Hrw has been preparing an on-line course consisiting of some of the most advanced teachings found in the Ancient Egyptian system. We have been reluctant to offer this to our internet members because of the intensive level of study, and ritual practice that this requires. Never-the-less, the Knbt (council) has elected to make this program available for on-line users.
This course is intended for students of Akhet Hwt-Hrw who have successfully completed the Rekhyet and Bezzu courses of study. Those who have not may apply for enrollment in this course. It is strongly recomended that that applicant have read "Eye of the Sun" and "Song of Hathor" mastering the ceremonies contained in these. A written exam and personal interview must be passed in order to enroll in this course.
While the first two courses provide an understanding of the fundamental principals and basic ritual techniques involved in Ancient Egyptian religious and magical practice, the focus was primarily placed on the outer forms which the rituals and beliefs appear. The Wenwet course is very different from the material presented so far. This work is intended to introduce the deeper teachings and inner workings of Ancient Egyptian esoteric practice and thought. As a contemporary temple preparing members for possible initiation, we provide this course as the next step in the student's esoteric training. This course teaches a deeper understanding of the mechanics involved with the successful practice of Ancient Egyptian ritual. In doing so this work pulls from ancient texts, personal training in related disciplines, and the experience of more than 20 years of working with a variety of Egyptian ceremonies.
The following is a list of some of the material that will be taught in the Wenwet training program:
In the Ancient Egyptian tradition there are five distinct levels of Wenwet. This course teaches ritual techniques specific to the Wab level of training while introducing the student to many of the techniques used in the higher levels of the priesthood.
Throughout the course the emphasis is placed on understanding the inner or hidden meaning contained in the symbols and texts with an eye to engaging the student in learning to apply these techniques in their life. There will be required reading of some outside works. Two works in particular will be essential:
"The Search for God in Ancient Egypt" by Jan Assmann
"The Daily Life of the Ancient Egyptian Gods" by Christine-Favard Meeks and Dimitri Meeks
Pre-Requisites
The applicant must have successfully completed both the Rekhyet course "Introduction to Ancient Egyptian Religion and Magic" and the Bezzu course "Ancient Egyptian Ritual Magic" or pass a written exam and personal interview in order to enroll in this course.
