Basic Precepts and Beliefs of Akhet Hwt-Hrw
As an organization teaching an ancient spiritual discipline we feel it is important to give an overview of the basic creed that is embodied within Akhet Hwt-Hrw. The following briefly lists Akhet's Precepts and Beliefs (these are discussed in greater detail throughout the Courses of Study provided by Akhet):
- There is meaning and purpose to life and to each living thing's existence.
- The Divine (embodied in the Neteru) is manifest in all of nature.
- The Neteru originate from the single source of Nun, the primordial sea of all potential, existing beyond the temporal world. The Nun, primordial sea, holds within it the existence of complimentary opposites. As such divinity, as embodied in the Neteru, is both female and male.
- Women and men are held in equally high regard in Akhet..
- Divinity, the Neteru, communicate to humanity through the symbols and images that humanity can best understand at the time.
- Akhet is dedicated to the worship of the Divine - the Neteru through the symbols, practices, rituals, myths and teachings of Ancient Egypt.
- Akhet is dedicated to the spiritual development of each member through the symbols, practices, rituals, myths and teachings of Ancient Egypt.
- Although the Neteru manifest in many forms Akhet is primarily dedicated to the worship of the Neteret Hwt-Hrw, the Goddess Hathor.
- Members are encouraged to find the Neter who best relates to them. This may vary from person to person.
Because the Neteru are inherent in all of nature Akhet seeks to attune its members with spiritual reality by observing the religious calendars of Ancient Egypt which are based on celestial cycles.
- The Neteru can and do directly communicate with the individual at those moments when the individual is ready, or the Neteru decide that it is appropriate.
- There are different states of existence, different plains/dimensions of being.
- Through proper training, all living beings can become aware of these other states of being.
- Consciousness survives the death of the physical body. As such, death is a transition and transformation from one state of being to another.
- Each of us are alive to learn, to experience and to evolve into something greater than we are now.
- Akhet recognizes and accepts reincarnation as a necessary process of spiritual development.
- We are responsible for our own fate, through the direct affect of our actions, whether in this lifetime or another.
- Maintaining balance and order, Ma'at, is paramount.
- All things have innate power and abilities (which the Ancient Egyptians referred to as Heka) that can and should be used for the betterment of the individual without infringing on the rights of others.
- Akhet is dedicated to the development of these abilities within its members.
